Moss

Moss is the scourge of many lawns. The relationship between moss and grass is like the fight between good and evil. Moss and grass are simply fighting for the same piece of ground.

Some of the things that can cause moss on the lawn are:

  • Compacted soil and poor drainage
  • Lack of sunlight
  • Poor maintenance practices - particularly infrequent and severe mowing practices.

First Stage

The first stage in managing moss is to create conditions which favour the grass plant by;

  • Aerating to alleviate compaction
  • Scarifying to remove moss and reduce thatch
  • Regular mowing – not too low
  • Moss inhibitors – This is our secret weapon. It is an organic fertiliser that contains a special bacterium that degrades the moss gradually, feeding it back into the soil as a nutrient for the grass. No chemicals! No Mess!
